GSC WOMEN'S RELEASE
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference Indoor Track and Field Yearly Award Winners were released Friday afternoon. Christian Noble was named the GSC Men's Track Athlete of the Year and Caleb Morgan was named the Men's and Women's Coach of the Year.
Noble earned three nods as GSC Men's Track Performer of the Week on his way to reaching the NCAA Division II automatic qualifying marks in the 3000-meter run and the 5000-meter run.
In the recent GSC Indoor Championships, Noble was an individual gold-medalist in three events (mile, 3K and 5K) and was part of the gold medal distance medley relay team.
Morgan led the Flames and Lady Flames to the program's first GSC Indoor Track & Field Championships. The men came from behind to post a 2.5-point victory, while the women pulled away from the rest of the competition to win by 72.5 points.
The Flames earned eight First Team All-GSC and four Second Team All-GSC mentions for their performances at the GSC Indoor Track & Field Championships. Student-athletes who finish first and second in their events were named First and Second Team All-GSC.
Noble was First Team All-GSC in the mile, 3000, 5000 and DMR. Jeremiah McCain, Elias Sandifer and Jared Herzog were First Team All-GSC in the DMR and Jonah Mayes added another First Team All-GSC selection in the high jump.
Casey Guthery received Second Team All-GSC honors in the 3000 and 5000. Gari Garmendia (shot put) and Daniel Surman (pole vault) were also Second Team All-GSC.
The Lady Flames posted 12 First Team All-GSC members. Amber Littlejohn led the way with three mentions in the 400-meter dash, 4x400-meter relay and DMR. Joining Littlejohn in the 4x400 were Jordan Allison, Mikayla Beeler and Kristen Blevins. The gold medal winning DMR team was made up of Littlejohn, Beeler, Olivia McLain and Jaila Whitaker.
Allison added another First Team performance in the pentathlon, while Celine Ritter was First Team All-GSC in the 3000 and mile.
Chloe Flora claimed Second Team All-GSC honors in the 3000 and Charlee Boxall did the same in the mile. Toni Moore gathered Second Team honors in the 5000-meter run and Littlejohn was Second Team All-GSC in the 200-meter dash.
