Lee's unbeaten (19-0) and nationally second-ranked women's soccer team will be hosting the first and second rounds of the 2021 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship on Nov. 19-21 inside the Ray Conn Sports Complex.
"It is a privilege to host the Region. Our players are really excited about the opportunity," said Lee Coach Chris Hennessey as he prepared his team for the event. "We are excited about playing before our students and local community. It is a special occasion."
On Friday, Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. Florida Tech (10-3-5) from the Sunshine State Conference will face Mississippi College (12-4-1), a member of the Gulf South Conference. The top-seeded Lady Flames drew a first round bye and will be pitted against the winner of the Florida Tech and Mississippi College contest on Sunday at 2 p.m. Admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for students with IDs and senior citizens.
While the upper half of the bracket is being held in Cleveland the lower half is being staged in Daytona, Florida and hosted by second-seeded Embry-Riddle (10-3-3) winner of the Sunshine State Conference Championship. West Florida (12-3-2) and Valdosta State (11-6-1) open play on Friday and the winner goes against Embry-Riddle on Sunday.
If the Lady Flames remain undefeated and win on Sunday the championship action inside the Ray Conn Sports Complex will continue on Dec. 3-5 when the winner of the upper and lower bracket meet to decide the South Region title. The top two teams will also come to Cleveland from the Southeast Region to tangle. The winners of the two Friday contests will collide on Sunday to decide who advances as the 2021 NCAA Division II Women's National Soccer Championship continues.
