KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A trio of Lee University women's soccer players were named to the United Soccer Coaches First Team All-South Region on Tuesday. Seniors Grace Berry, Alaysia Nye, and Avery Sides all earned recognition. The trio of seniors were also named to the D2CCA FIrst Team All-South Region earlier this fall.
Avery Sides anchored the back line for Lee this year. She was on the First Team All-GSC. She played the most minutes for Lee and started every game. Sides helped the Lady Flames to the fourth fewest goals this season in the GSC. She scored and had multiple assists this season. She is also in the top ten in assists in the GSC.
Berry dominated the midfield for Lee this season. She was also a First Team All-GSC. She started every game for the Lady Flames. She led the team in assists and scored four goals. She is second in the GSC in assists. Berry has taken the third most shots on the team. The Lady Flames scored the fourth most goals in the GSC this year. She played the third most minutes for the Lady Flames. She was second in the GSC in assists. It is the third straight year Berry has been a First Team All-GSC member and the second straight year she was a D2CCA First Team All-South member.
Nye had an unbelievable year for the Lady Flames. She was a First Team All-GSC member. She tied for first in the GSC regular season with the most goals at 11. Those 11 goals are 11
th best in the country. She had the second most game winning goals in the GSC. Nye was very efficient in scoring this year. She had 11 goals on just 33 shots which is just ninth best in the GSC. She has 18 shots on goal and has scored on 11 of them by far the best in the conference. Her shot accuracy is a .545. She has been named GSC player of the week twice. Nye was also on the 2023 First Team All-GSC and D2CCA First Team All-South Region.
