WINGATE, N.C. – The Lee University women's lacrosse team opened its 2021 season with a 17-6 loss Saturday afternoon at Wingate University.
Dariana Blanton tallied three goals to lead the Lady Flames (0-1). Giselle Gonzalez had two goals and Brittney White added one more. Kelsey McGowen tallied an assist in the loss.
Wingate (1-0) was led by Annie Plotts' three goals and one assist. Nina Cifolilli added three goals for the Bulldogs. Kendall Wells, Abby Burke and Mia Kwiatkoski recorded two goals each. Kayleigh Hiles supplied one goal and dished out four assists.
Megan Biase earned the win in goal with nine saves. Kaleigh Bernard was charged with the loss. Caleigh Smith had seven saves in 36 minutes off the bench.
The Lady Flames are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, February 13, against McKendree University. The non-conference matchup is set for 3 p.m. at the South Quad Field.
