BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Haley Schubert took home first team honors, Julia Duncan was named Freshman of the Year and joined Hannah Garrett landed on the second team as the Gulf South Conference announced its East Division Award Winners on Tuesday.
Schubert, a junior from Knoxville, Tenn., averaged 18.1 ppg, 5.6 rpg and 5.2 apg. She was named the GSC East Player of the Week twice, including this last week where she averaged 23 points, 3.5 rebounds and eight assists in two blowout wins at AUM.
Duncan, a freshman from Tullahoma, Tenn., was named the GSC East Freshman of the Week six times, including this last week where she averaged 16.5 points and 4.5 rebounds.
Hannah Garrett, a junior-transfer forward from Jamestown, Tenn., averaged 11.7 ppg and 4.2 rpg for the Lady Flames this season.
"We're excited for players anytime other coaches recognize them for their play," said Lee head coach Marty Rowe. "I think all three would tell you that their individual honors are a direct reflection of their teammates and the roles each of them play into this teams success."
The Lady Flames finished the regular season at 13-6 and are the No. 3 seed in the GSC East. They will travel to take on the GSC West No. 2 West Alabama Tigers (13-7) on Tuesday in the GSC Quarterfinals at 7 p.m.
