Volleyball's Three Match Win Streak Ends at AUM

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Lee volleyball team saw its three-match winning streak come to an end on Friday night with a 3-0 loss at Auburn Montgomery.

The first set was a back-and-forth battle with the Lady Flames tying things up at 24 on a kill by Abby Stroh before the Warhawks rattled off the final two points to take the set, 26-24. Set two was another close contest with AUM pulling away late for a 25-22 victory before the home team closed things out with a convincing 25-16 win in the final set.

Stroh led the Lady Flames attack with 13 slams on a .303 hitting percentage and six digs. Hannah Upton added 11 kills and six digs and Ashton Middleton dished out 17 assists. Grace Mazzocca chipped in four kills on five attacks for an .800 hitting percentage.

"We knew coming into today's match that it was going to be tough," said interim head coach Silvia Beauzile. "Offensively we did a good job but in serve receive and defense we didn't execute the job well which helped AUM win the tight sets. We know what we need to improve on so we are looking forward to another match to improve our game."

Ylenia De Mango led the Warhawks with 12 kills while Kendall McCain tallied 10 and three aces. Amber Bretwisch set things up with 17 assists and Savannah Sebek rotated in for 16 assists.

The Lady Flames had strung together three GSC victories, topping Valdosta State twice with West Georgia sandwiched in between.

The loss drops Lee to 5-15 and 3-5 in the GSC. AUM climbs back to even on the year at 10-10 overall and 4-4 in league play.

The road trip won't get any easier on Saturday as the Lady Flames travel to Pensacola to tangle with No. 13 West Florida at 3 p.m.
