Track & Field Records Pair Of Wins At Camel City Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Lee University track & field teams took a handful of distance runners to compete in the Camel City Invitational at JDL Fast Track this past Friday and Saturday and returned home with a pair of first-place finishes.

The men's distance medley relay team of Carson Bix, Jeremiah McCain, Titus Lagat and Christian Noble won their event by 30 seconds over Anderson (S.C.). Their time of 9:51.31 just missed the NCAA Division II 200-meter flat track record of 9:49.06 that was set in 2012 by Augustana when they won the event at the NCAA Championships.

Caleb Eagleson recorded the second event win in the 5000-meter run. He crossed the finish line at 14:33.77, almost 20 seconds ahead of second place. Adan Rodriguez placed fifth (15:02.52) and Silas Eckenroad was seventh (15:03.09).

Bix and Noble were in the elite race of the 3000-meter run. Bix posted a time of 8:00.68 for 12th place and Noble was 14th at 8:06.07. The duo were in pursuit of the 3000-meter flat track DII record of 7:57.19.

Celine Ritter was entered into the women's 3000 elite race at finished 10th with a time of 9:22.46. In the women's 3000, Toni Moore placed 11th after stopping the clock at 9:51.75. Olivia McLain (10:14.51) and Danielle Horter (10:16.23) finished 20th and 21st, respectively.

Moore added a 14th-place finish in the mile run with a time of 5:05.61. Lily Hare was right behind in 15th (5:07.70). Aria Hawkins placed 21st (5:14.85), Liza Kellerman was 22nd (5:15.68) and Elizabeth Beckham finished 30th (5:22.00).

Hare and Kellerman also competed in the 800-meter run. Hare was seventh (2:17.86), while Kellerman recorded a 14th-place finish (2:21.87). Elizabeth Heckman covered 5000 meters in 19:41.61 to finish 15th in her race.

Will Stone, Casey Guthery and Ezekiel Harless ran in the 3000-meter. Stone posted a time of 8:23.48 to finish eighth. Guthery was 17th (8:30.70) and Harless placed 40th (8:46.02).

Hayden Judge and Aaron Himes finished in the top 10 of the 800-meter run. Judge was seventh (1:58.66) and Himes was ninth (1:58.96). Jacob Hatcher finished 14th (2:00.40) with Caleb Guthery in 20th (2:01.33).

Himes and Judge were also in the mile run. Himes (4:17.31) was 10th and Judge was 12th (4:19.58). Joining them was Adan Rodriguez, who completed the race in 4:24.34 for 27th.
In the lone non-distance event, McCain finished fourth in the 200-meter dash. He recorded a time of 22.34 seconds.

The Flames and Lady Flames will now turn their attention to the Gulf South Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. The two-day events are scheduled for February 15-16 at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
