Hall, Nkosi Set Lee Records At USA Jaguar Invitational

RESULTS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Carissa Hall and Gift Nkosi recorded Lee University records at the USA Jaguar Invitational Sunday at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The event was put on by the University of South Alabama.

Hall added to her Lee record in the triple jump. She had previously recorded a mark of 11.42 meters. In her sixth-place performance on Sunday, the sophomore set the standard at 11.92 meters.

Nkosi placed sixth in the high jump with a successful clearance of 2.08 meters. His mark was 0.07 meters better than the previous Lee record of 2.01 meters by Jonah Mayes two years ago.

Baylie Murphy (7,75) and Kristen Blevins (7.76) were 10th and 11th, respectively in the 60-meter dash. Hannah Wright was 12th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.25 seconds. Murphy finished 30th (26.23) and Mikayla Beeler was 38th (26.71). Wright added a fourth-place finish with a time of 8.74 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. Brooke Long (9.24) had the 17th-best time and Liezl Theron was 25th (9.34).  

In the 400-meter dash, Beeler claimed 11th (58.36), Blevins was 13th (58.60) and Hall stopped the clock at 59.64 (17th). Katie Krueger's 3000-meter time of 10:53.65 was good for 22nd, while Kaitlyn Sesler finished 34th (11:24.43).

Devon Jackett cleared 1.51 meters to tie for 20th in the high jump. Theron covered 5.05 meters to place 21st in the long jump and Long recorded a triple jump of 11.08 meters for 11th.

For the men, Ian Thomas was 34th in the 60-meter with a time of 7.11 seconds. Nokia Masengu's time of 22.53 seconds was 28th-fastest in the 200.

Jeremiah McCain finished ninth (49.42) in the 400. Masengu placed 27th (51.69) and Stacen Cunningham was 31st (52.15). McCain and Cunningham were joined by Caleb Long in the 60-meter hurdles. McCain crossed the line at 8.32 for ninth. Cunningham was 12th (8.52) and Long was 18th (8.85).

Daniel Surman and Eli Brooks were Lee's representatives in the pole vault. Surman recorded a height of 4.62 meters to finish 11th and Brooks was 20th with a clearance of 4.17 meters.

Long landed at 5.90 meters to finish 22nd in the long jump. Matthew Black registered a mark of 15.31 meters to place 18th in the weight throw.

The Lady Flames and Flames are scheduled to return to action at the Gulf South Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. The two-day event is set for February 15-16 at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
