Vogel Pitches Lady Flames to DH Split at LMU

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lee softball team earned a doubleheader split at Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday behind a superb game two outing from pitcher Nyah Vogel.

Vogel, a sophomore transfer from USC-Upstate, dazzled in the circle, giving up just one run on an inside the park home to May Henry to lead off the game. From there she allowed just five hits, struck out two and did not walk a batter to move to 2-0 on the year.

The Lady Flames got the bats going in the nightcap with a three-run third inning. Javarria Smith led things off with a single. After a flyout, Annalyn Ormsby singled to center with one out. With two outs Janina Remley singled home Smith and Ormsby to give the Lady Flames a 2-1 lead. Carissa Frost made it a three-run frame with a run-scoring single to center.

Taylor De Adder put the icing on the cake as she launched her first home run on the year in the seventh inning.

B. Griffith (0-1) was tagged with the loss for the Railsplitters as she allowed all four runs on seven hits. She walked four and threw 117 pitchers over six-plus innings. D. Malczewsk came on in relief and recorded the final three outs.
