The Lee softball team got dominating pitching from Nyah Vogel and Madison Barnett and home runs from Taylor De Adder and Annie Ormsby in a doubleheader road sweep at Young Harris on Wednesday.
The Lady Flames used the long ball and the arm of Vogel to take game one, 5-2 before rolling to a five inning run-rule, 10-1 victory in the nightcap.
"Annie's home run really changed the dynamic of the whole day for us," said Lee head coach Emily Russell. "That really loosened us up. Taylor's home run was with two strikes, and we sent 12 to the plate and scored nine runs with two outs so we did a great job swinging the bat with two outs. I think we learned a lot from our two tough battles with Valdosta State. Nyah and Madison both pitched really well for us so it was really good complete team performance."
Lee improves to 7-9 on the year while the Mountain Lions fall to 6-7.  The Lady Flames now hold an 11-7 record in the all-time series with the Georgia Club.
Coach Russell's ladies will jump back into Gulf South Conference play this weekend with a big weekend series at Butler Field against No. 12 Auburn Montgomery. The series gets underway on Saturday at 1 p.m.
GAME 1 – LEE 5 YHC 2
The Lady Flames got the bats going after five scoreless innings on both sides on a two-run homer by Ormsby. The sophomore now has eight hits and seven RBI over her last four games.
De Adder, affectionately known as the Canadian Crusher put the icing on the cake with a two-strike, three-run monster blast over the left field wall. The Maple Ridge, British Columbia native had two hits in the win and leads the team in batting average (.333), OPS (.962), hits (16) and homers (3).
Vogel (4-3) went the distance in the circle in game one and gave up just two runs on five hits while striking out three. Vogel shut out the Mountain Lions over the first six innings before giving up the two runs in the seventh.
Jill Dixon (2-3) took the loss for Young Harris. She gave up two runs on three hits in 5.1 innings. Morgan Curly doubled home a run in the seventh for the Mountain Lions and Grace Young registered two hits.
GAME 2 – LEE 10 YHC 1
It was all Lady Flames in game two of the twin bill as they scored a remarkable nine runs with two outs in third inning.
Bre Patton got the offensive explosion going with a two-run double. Patton would score the third run as she scampered home via a double steal with De Adder. Ormsby then plated her seventh run over the last four games with single to center. Allie Razo followed with a single of her own before Alex Scalzo drew a bases loaded walk. The final blow of the third inning came when Laney Harris cleared the bases with a three-run double to make it 9-0.
That was more than enough support for the sophomore southpaw Madison Barnett as she improved to 3-6 in the circle. Barnett worked all five innings and allowed just one run on three hits while striking out five.
The Mountain Lions only offense came on a solo home run by Shea Bayreuther in the fifth.
