Lady Flames Open Outdoor Season With 10 Event Wins At Lee Invitational

RESULTS

The Lee University women's track & field team opened its outdoor season on Saturday in the 2022 Lee University Invitational at the Ray Conn Sports Complex. The Lady Flames recorded 10 event wins and posted one Lee Record in the meet.

Carissa Hall claimed three individual event wins and added a relay win. She recorded a Lee record 12.16 meters to win the Triple Jump and covered 5.60 meters to win the Long Jump. She won the 400-Meter Dash with a time of 57.80 seconds and teamed with Mikayla Beeler, Kristen Blevins and Janay Ryan to win the 4x400-Meter Relay with a total time of 3:58.47.

Blevins was second (58.51) and Ryan finished fourth (59.40) in the 400-Meter Dash.

Aria Hawkins won the 800-Meter Run with a time of 2:16.25 with Liza Kellerman (2:17.58) and Lily Hare (2:18.82) right behind in second and third, respectively.

Toni Moore was first across the finish line of the 1500-Meter Run. She stopped the clock at 4:34.58 to win by almost two seconds. Hare was third (4:37.60), Hawkins claimed fourth (4:41.21) and Kellerman placed sixth (4:47.84).

Danielle Horter was the top runner in the 5000-Meter Run. She finished at 17:05.68 with Olivia McLain in second place at 17:25.75. Katie Krueger (18:20.97) was ninth, Elizabeth Beckham (18:24.64) finished 11th and in 12th was Elizabeth Heckman (18:28.58). Kaitlyn Sesler placed 23rd with a mark of 19:22.27.

Deborah Rubin outthrew her competition in the Shot Put. Her mark of 12.13 meters was 0.73 meters better than second place. Austyn Durham finished sixth with a throw of 9.98 meters. Durham was second in the Discus Throw with a measurement of 35.14 meters while Rubin's throw of 30.54 meters was good for fifth place. Durham added a fourth-place recording of 33.53 meters in the Hammer Throw.

Hannah Wright and Kyleeyah Whitehead finished in the top four of the 100-Meter Dash. Wright was third at 12.22 seconds and Whitehead placed fourth at 12.24. Wright also added a second-place finish in the 200-Meter Dash. Her time of 25.17 seconds was 0.31 seconds behind Alabama Huntsville's Zakiria Holifield. Beeler crossed the finish line at 25.70 for fourth.

Beeler joined Liezl Theron and Madlyn Mayo in the 400-Meter Hurdles. Beeler posted a time of 1:04.41 to win the event. Theron placed third (1:04.72) and Mayo was sixth (1:10.84). Theron and Mayo were Lee's representatives in the 100-Meter Hurdles. Theron placed third at 15.03, while Mayo was sixth (16.71).

Theron cleared 1.60 meters to win the High Jump. Devon Jackett was third with a height of 1.55 meters. Theron, Sydney White and Durham took on the Javelin Throw. Theron and White tied for fourth with throws of 30.02 meters. Durham was seventh with a toss of 29.01 meters.

Grace Adams and Ashlyn Iliff were the top two finishers in the 3000-Meter Steeplechase. Adams was first at 11:36.05 with Iliff in second with a time of 11:41.97.

Blevins, Whitehead, Baylie Murphy and Jaila Whitaker combined to finish second in the 4x100-Meter Relay.

The Lady Flames are scheduled to travel to Raleigh, N.C. for the Raleigh Relays on March 25-26.
