Lady Flames Roll Past UAH, 9-1 For Fourth Straight GSC Series Win

Nyah Vogel wheeled and dealed for the second straight game in the circle and Taylor De Adder completed a run-rule 9-1 win with a three-run homer to give the Lady Flames a Gulf South series victory over Alabama Huntsville on Sunday afternoon.

Vogel picked up where she left off yesterday and went the full five innings allowing just one run on eight hits. She struck out two and did not walk a batter to improve to 10-5. Vogel has won five straight and given up just two runs over her last 25 innings.

De Adder finished the series 5 for 7 with six RBI and two home runs. Ana Macha had three hits. Bre Patton doubled, singled, scored three runs and drove in two while Javaria Smith delivered a double and had two RBI.

"That was a good series win today. We responded to a loss yesterday with great energy," said Lee head coach Emily Russell. "We scored early and go into the bullpen which is always good in game 3. We have a tough stretch of games coming up and we are on the road this weekend. I like the way we are playing and I know we are going to continue to grow together and play better together."

Kiara Akles (1-1) suffered the loss in the circle for the Chargers as she gave up three runs in 1.1 innings. Grace O'Berry and Megan Shurtz combined for 3.1 innings of relief and gave up six runs on eight hits.

Shelby Booker delivered the lone offense for the Chargers as she hit a run-scoring single in the fifth. Kaylee Vaught doubled to open the inning and scored.

The Lady Flames improve to 15-13 on the year and are now 9-8 in the GSC. Lee has won four straight GSC weekend series, taking down Auburn Montgomery, Delta State, Mississippi College and now Alabama Huntsville.

The Lady Flames will return to Butler Field on Tuesday to host No. 12 North Georgia in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
