Lady Flames Split with No. 13 North Georgia

The Lee softball team earned a doubleheader split with No. 13 North Georgia on Tuesday afternoon on a sun-splashed afternoon at Butler Field. The Lady Flames took game one, 6-5 as Madison Barnett battled in the circle through early trouble to go the distance for the win.

Sydney Lee delivered the go-ahead run for Lee with a double to left center to score Taylor De Adder. Barnett (5-8) then went out for the seventh and went through the heart of the high-powered Nighthawks lineup to earn her fifth victory of the season. She allowed five runs on 11 hits and did not walk a batter.

The Lady Flames only had five hits in the contest but capitalized on eight North Georgia walks and four hit by pitches. Javaria Smith got Lee going with a run-scoring triple in the first. Bre Patton went 1 for 1 with an RBI and reached base all four times up to the plate.

North Georgia's big offense inning came in the third as Olivia Sinquefield, Madison Simmons, and Haley Cummings hit back to back to back home runs. Barnett shook off the rough inning however and allowed just one run over the next four innings.

Jordan Warzynski (0-1) was tagged with the loss as she allowed one run in 1.1 innings of relief. Kristen Davis started and worked two-plus innings, giving up a pair of hits and four runs. Tybee Denton was charged with one run on two hits through 2.2 innings. She struck out five but walked four before giving way to Warzynski.

Blair homered to left in the sixth and Sinquefield hit her second long ball of the day in the sixth to wrap up the scoring. All totaled North Georgia slugged five homers in the doubleheader.

Annalyn Ormsby blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning to get the Lady Flames on the board while Javaria Smith singled in a run in the fifth.
