Lady Flames Burn Up Falcons, 78-47

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The No. 22 Lee women's basketball team started fast and never looked back to improve to 16-3 on the season and 14-1 in Gulf South Conference play with a dominating, 78-47 win at Montevallo on Saturday afternoon.

Hannah Garrett continued her outstanding play of late as she came off the bench to lead the way with 18 points on 8 of 12 shooting from the field while grabbing seven rebounds. Mia Hurst added to the bench punch with 12 points and five rebounds. Morgan Carbaugh posted a double-double performance of 11 points and 10 rebounds and the backcourt duo of Mallory Hampton and Haley Schubert also chipped in 11 points. Hampton also grabbed five boards and dished out four assists while Schubert recorded seven assists.

The Lady Flames shot 52.6 percent from the field (30 of 57) and 47.6 percent from deep (10 of 21). Lee held a dominating 46-29 advantage on the glass and outscored the Falcons, 40-22 in the paint.

"It was a really good job by our team responding to a week off by defending with purpose and urgency today," said Lee head coach Marty Rowe. "That's the key to being successful on the road in this league."

Defend they did. The Lady Flames allowed just eight points in the first quarter and only 19 at the half. For the game Montevallo shot just 25.5 percent (14 of 55) and 12 percent (3 of 25) from the 3-point line.

The Lady Flames remain a half game ahead of Valdosta State in the GSC Standings and 1.5 clear of third place West Florida.

Lee will return to Walker Arena on Thursday at 6 p.m. for a showdown with West Alabama. On Saturday the Lady Flames wrap up the week with Alabama Huntsville at 2 p.m.
