FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Lee University softball team dropped both game in a double header on Tuesday afternoon at Emmanuel College. The Lady Flames dropped game one 4-1 and lost game two 7-0. With the two losses, the Lady Flames fell to 6-11 on the season.
Game 1
The first base runner didn't come until the second inning when Sidney Lee got a hit but was part of a double play to end the inning. Emmanuel answered with a single in the bottom of the second but left the runner on base.
Annalyn Ormsby reached safely to start the third inning with a single. Rylie Goodridge then followed that up with a walk. Shelby Cole then reached on a fielders choice as Ormsby was out at third base. Alexa Scalzo the singled to load the bases for the Lady Flames. Ana Macha reached on a fielder's choice and Goodridge was out at home. Javaria Smith then struck out to end the inning. Emmanuel had another hit in the bottom half of the third but left the runner on base.
Lee was hit by a pitch and Laney Harris singled in the top of the fourth but could not bring anyone home as two force out and a fly out ended the threat. In the bottom of the fourth, Emmanuel had two singles and a walk to load the bases. Another single and an error from Cole allowed two runs to score. Then back-to-back sacrifice flies from the Lions made it 4-0 after the fourth inning.
Macha singled in the fifth inning but was left stranded. Emmanuel got two more on base in the bottom half of the fifth but the Lady Flames got out of the jam. The Lions got another base runner on an error in the bottom of the sixth but that was it.
Ormsby walked to start the seventh. Goodridge and Cole then struck out back-to-back. Scalzo then hit a double to score Ormsby but was thrown out at third base to end the game.
Both teams had six hits in game one and Lee committed four errors in the loss. Scalzo led the way with two hits and an RBI.
Game 2
Ana Macha got a hit in the first inning but was left on base. In the second inning, Goodridge was walked but left stranded. Emmanuel got on the board in the second inning after a two run home run. The added two more hits to score another run and lead 3-0 after the second. Emmanuel got base runners on in the third and fourth innings but left the runners on base.
Bohl reached safely on an error as did Smith in the fourth inning, but Lee could not bring them home. Emmanuel used an error and a hit to add a run in the bottom of the fifth. The Lions had three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Emmanuel had two hits and took advantage of another error to score the three runs.
Lee only managed one hit in the second game while Emmanuel had eight.
The Lady Flames will head to Motngomery, Ala. to take on AUM this weekend to continue GSC play.
