Ehmann Named to D2CCA All-Region Second Team

JACKSON, Tenn. – The 2024 Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA) Men's Soccer All-South Region Teams were announced Tuesday, November 26. The sports communicators in the south region voted on the teams. Lee University graduate defender Marc Ehmann was named to the second team. 

For Ehmann it was the first time as a Flames to be named to an All-region team. He was on the First Team All-GSC has been the captain and the leader of the defense for the Flames this year. He was on the preseason All-GSC team after being a second team All-GSC member last season. He helped lead the defense to giving up just a goal a game and has only allowed the third fewest goals in the GSC. He has a score and an assist this year. 

Coach Derek Potteiger was proud of the accomplishment for Ehmann. "Even in the midst of a tough season it's great that we have had individual players recognized at multiple levels. Marc deserves the recognition as he is a top player and has been an important part of our program all 3 years he has been here."

Lewis Matton, a junior, forward from Surrey, England, of Mississippi College was selected as the 2024 D2 CCA Men's Soccer South Region Player of the Year and first-team All-GSC. The 6-foot-5 transfer led the GSC with 14 goals at a 1.27 goals/match average. He posted three game-winning goals and finished with 33 shots, 23 on goal. Matton also led the GSC with 30 total points, six more than the nearest competitor. He added two assists on the year. His squad finish fourth in the GSC standings. 

Matton headlined the first-team all-south region at the forward position along with Jorge Lameira (Rollins, Keegan Ancelin (West Florida), and Benjamin Hoffman (Auburn Montgomery). Lameira was the first-team all-south region in 2023. The goalkeeper was Luca Glavero (Lynn). The mid-fielders included Luan Barroso (Lynn), Filippo Fazzi (Florida Tech), Pedro Lameiras (Rollins), and Sergio Garrido (Mississippi College). The defenders included Keegan Lynch (West Florida), Henry Hafeerkorn (Lynn), Landon Surratt (Auburn Montgomery), and Alvaro Ivorra Ronda (Florida Tech). 

The second team players included Vicent Sanchis Olmedo (GK, Christian Brothers), Russell Brown (F, Christian Brothers), Luis Kiefer (F, Lynn), Oli Orzechowski (F, Alabama Huntsville), Cristobal Porter (F, Montevallo), Fabian Vyhnalek (MF, Lynn), Caue Movaes (MF, West Florida), Jacopo Ghezzi (MF, Florida Tech), Adam Hanson (MF, Auburn Montgomery), Logan Roach (D, Auburn Montgomery), Marc Ehmann (D, Lee), Luke Fanstone (D, Mississippi College), George Chandler (D, Christian Brothers). 

The first team included representatives from six schools, with Lynn leading the way with three representatives. A total of 10 schools were represented over both teams, with Lynn boasting five players. Auburn Montgomery had the second most selections with four. Florida Tech, West Florida, and Christian Brothers had three selections each.

The Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA) encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
