Lovelace, Ninteretse Reach Provisional Standards

Flames Compete in Birmingham and Boston

Ryan Lovelace met the NCAA Divison II Provisional standard in the 3000-meter Run.

BOSTON/BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Lee University men's track & field team competed in two separate meets this weekend. The Flames were at the Birmingham CrossPlex for the Birmingham Indoor Icebreaker on Friday, while four others traveled to Boston for the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center.

Ryan Lovelace and Edimo Ninteretse topped the Flames highlights in Boston with NCAA Division II Indoor Provisional performances. Lovelace finished first in his heat and was 50th overall in the 3000-meter Run with a time of 8:06:30. His time met the qualifying time of 8:15.39.

Evan Moore and Owen Pearce joined Lovelace in the 3000. Moore placed 96th at 8:25.16 and Pearce was 113th (8:59.93).

Ninteretse finished the 5000-meter Run in 14:12.70 to surpass the 14:23.96 standard. His time put him in 134th place.

Jacob Salters, Cooper Giddens and Timothy Doolittle participated in the 60-meter Dash at the CrossPlex on Friday. Salters placed 55th at 7.27 seconds. Giddens was 63rd (7.34) and Doolittle finished 74th (7:54). Giddens and Doolittle also ran the 200-meter Dash. Giddens placed 30th (22.85), while Doolittle was 68th (24.42). In between were Markel Kelly at 41st (23.23) and Isaac Iosia at No. 43 (23.41).

The Flames had four runners in the 400-meter Dash. Aiden Shaw stopped the clock at 49.43 seconds for seventh. Nokia Masengu (49.53) was ninth, Ian Newman placed 11th (49.63) and Eli Cobble was 13th (49.94).

In the 800-meter Run, Stephen Mattis posted a time of 1:59.00 to finish 11th. David Johnson was 16th at 2:00.99.

Tal Old and Elijah Moran were two of Lee's representatives in the Mile and the 3000-meter Run. Old's mile time of 4:25.32 put him in fourth place and Moran claimed 11th with a time of 4:36.01. Old was sixth (8:35.34) in the 3000 and Moran (8:37.50) was eighth. Parker Campbell joined them in the 3000 and finished 11th (8:44.48).

Iosia and Kelly finished in the top 14 of the 60-meter Hurdles. Iosia was eighth in the preliminary round with a 8.58 time to move on to the final where he placed seventh (8.63). Kelly finished 14th (8.71) in the preliminary.
Newman, Shaw, Cobble and Masengu combined to run the 4x400-meter Relay. The foursome crossed the finish line at 3:17.82 for second place.

Jacob Salters covered 6.35 meters to claim 23rd in the Long Jump. He also finished 15th in the High Jump with a clearance of 1.85 meters. Hudson Hunt cleared 1.70 meters for 25th place. Jacob Atkinson went over 3.85 meters for 16th in the Pole Vault.

Camden Williams was sixth in the Shot Put and seventh in the Weight Throw with throws of 15.49 meters and 16.74 meters, respectively. Ian Trill was 14th in the Shot Put with a measurement of 13.42 meters. Braxton Philpot's mark of 15.51 meters was 16th-best in the Weight Throw, while Carrington Tate's throw of 13.78 meters put him in 20th.

The Flames will take some time off for the semester break and will return to action the weekend of January 17-19. The men will travel to Nashville, Tennessee, for the Vanderbilt Invitational on Friday and Saturday followed by a return to the Birmingham CrossPlex for the KMS Invitational on Sunday.
