BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-McKenna Cavanaugh was named the Gulf South Conference indoor female athlete of the year as announced by the league on Monday. SHe helped lead the Lady Flames to their fifth straight GSC championship.
McKenna Cavanaugh posted the first of her two individual championships in the mile. She stopped the clock at 4:53.01 to win by one second and post a GSC Indoor Record.
Cavanaugh added her second title and the team's fourth of the day in the 3000-meter run. She hit the finish line at 9:57.31 to win by 2.42 seconds. Earlier in the year, McKenna Cavanaugh met the standard of 4:56.85 in the mile. Cavanaugh stopped the clock at 4:46.90 to finish second overall at the Vanderbilt Invitational.
