RESULTS
CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Lee University Men's Track & Field team opened its outdoor season this weekend in the Lee University Invitational at the Ray Conn Sports Complex. The Flames claimed four NCAA Division II Provisional marks during the two-day meet.
Cale Kassen led the way for Lee with three provisional performances, while Justin Steele added another. Kassen surpassed the necessary 6,331 points in the Decathlon with a first-place total of 7,406. He also met the provisional marks of the 110-meter Hurdles and High Jump while competing in the Decathlon. His time of 13.90 seconds in the 110 Hurdles beat the standard of 14.44 seconds and his clearance of 2.07 meters in the High Jump was 0.03 meters over the provisional mark.
Eli Brooks and Timothy Doolittle joined Kassen in the Decathlon. Brooks finished second with 5,712 points and Doolittle was seventh after amassing 4,839 points.
Steele posted a time of 21.04 seconds in the 200-meter Dash. The time to meet was set at 21.21 seconds. Six other Flames joined Steele in the 200. Doniven Jackson finished third at 21.43 seconds, Niquaine Henry was sixth (21.77) and Nokia Masengu (21.93) placed ninth. Ian Newman stopped the clock at 22.25 (16
th), Eli Cobble was 23
rd (22.50) and Luke Blanchard crossed in 31
st (22.71). Blanchard also added a seventh-place finish in the 100-meter Dash with a time of 10.78 seconds.
The 4x100-meter Relay team of Blanchard, Steele, Aiden Shaw and Jackson combined for a first-place time of 41.04 seconds.
Shaw led three other Lee runners to the finish line of the 400-meter Dash. Shaw's time of 49.24 was second-best. Newman (49.76) and Cobble (49.87) were fifth and sixth, respectively. Masengu claimed 12
th with a time of 50.37.
Ryan Lovelace crossed the finish line of the 800-meter Run at 1:55.83 for second place and Tal Old finished sixth in the 5000-meter Run at 15:17.96.
The Flames had the top seven finishers of the 1500-meter Run. Roberto Fajardo was first (3:50.39) and Jacob Hatcher placed second (3:53.49). Aaron Himes (3:54.98) was third, Owen Pearce (3:55.75) finished fourth, Jon Fielding Stogner placed fifth (3:55.89) and Matthew Fowler was sixth (3:56.75) with Luke Gaddis in seventh (3:57.67). Ezekiel Harless finished 10
th (3:59.27) with Caleb Guthery right behind in 11
th (4:00.27). Titus Lagat was 20
th with a time of 4:06.45.
Isaac Iosia's time of 15.42 seconds placed him sixth in the 110-meter Hurdles. He was also ninth (1:00.21) in the 400 Hurdles, while Henry was first (54.96).
Myles Mann covered 5.95 meters to place sixth in the Long Jump. Camden Williams was third in the Shot Put with a mark of 15.69 meters. Ian Trill finished sixth with a throw of 13.52 meters.
Braxton Philpott placed sixth in the Discus with a throw of 40.24 meters. Caleb Long was 16
th with a mark of 35.41 meters and Brody Morgan was 17
th with a throw of 35.09 meters. Philpott was 11
th in the Hammer with a mark of 42.04 meters. Morgan's measurement of 39.73 meters put him in 16
th and Trill was 28
th with a toss of 32.33 meters.
Long and Mann secured two of the top three spots in the Javelin. Long's mark of 56.54 meters was the event's top throw. Mann placed third with a throw of 48.53 meters.
The Flames are scheduled to travel to Raleigh, N.C., next weekend for the Raleigh Relays at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility.
