RESULTS
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Lee University Women's Track & Field Team extended its first place lead on the second day of the 2024 GSC Outdoor Track & Field Championships being held at the University of Montevallo Track & Field Stadium. The Lady Flames added 74 points and head into the final day of competition with a 54-point advantage. West Georgia is in second place with 58 points and Mississippi College is in third (42).
Liezl Theron, Sydney White and Lily Brown completed the final three events of the Heptathlon where Theron scored 4,900 points to claim the championship. White placed second with 4,479 points and Brown (3,525) was fifth.
Theron added another individual championship with a clearance of 1.65 meters in the High Jump. Devon Jackett placed fifth with a mark of 1.55 meters and White's jump of 1.50 meters was good for eighth.
In the Long Jump, Carissa Hall was the top Lee finisher. She placed third with a new 2024 DII Provisional mark of 5.83 meters. Theron covered 5.42 meters to finish fifth.
The Lady Flames finished the day taking five of the top eight positions of the 5000-meter Run. Megan Adams crossed the line first overall with a time of 17:17.86. Danielle Horter was second with a time of 17:29.66). Zoe Brickley (17:44.71) finished fourth, Katie Krueger placed sixth (18:05.34) and Paige Patterson was eighth (18:12.29).
Two of the four Lee runners in the 100-meter Hurdles advanced out of the preliminaries. Hannah Wright posted the fastest time at 14.24 seconds. Theron stopped the clock at 15.17 to secure the final spot in Saturday's final. Brown (15.39) was 10
th and White (16.62) finished 14
th.
Thirteen individual championships will be decided on Saturday. The Lady Flames have members competing in 11 of the event finals.
