Flames Claim Four Provisional Marks On Opening Weekend

SHARON COLYEAR-DANVILLE SEASON OPENER RESULTS | COMMODORE WINTER CHALLENGE RESULTS

BOSTON/NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lee University men's track & field team opened their indoor season on Saturday at a pair of meets. Four Flames traveled to Boston for the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener held at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center, while the rest of the team traveled to Nashville for the Commodore Winter Challenge at Vanderbilt University's Multipurpose Facility.

In Boston, three Lee men posted NCAA DII provisional marks by finishing under 14:21.50 in the 5000-meter run. Edimo Ninteretse stopped the clock at 14:05.53 to finish 101st overall. Pierre Chauveau (14:11.37) was 126th and Tucker Wright (14:15.76) placed 134th.

Stephen Clark finished 107th in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:32.61. The provisional time for the 3000 is 8:12.89.

The Lee men added another provisional time in the 4x400-meter relay at the Commodore Winter Challenge. The team of Eli Cobble, Cooper Giddens, Aiden Shaw and Gage Whited combined for a third-place time of 3:14.29 to beat the qualifying mark of 3:15.49.

Andrew DeLorenzo, Silas Fulford, Shaw Helfrich and Travis Coley also ran in the 4x400. They stopped the clock at 3:26.79 to finish 10th.

Lee had six runners take part in the 60-meter preliminaries. Shaw was 13th overall at 6.93 seconds. Giddens (7.03) was 22nd, Whited placed 24th (7.04) and Cobble was 26th (7.06). Coley (7.41) was 36th with DeLorenzo (7.47) one spot behind at 37th.

Helfrich also competed in the 60-meter hurdles where he finished eighth with a time of 8.31 seconds. Isaac Iosia recorded a time of 8.96 seconds to finish 17th.

Coley and DeLorenzo were joined by Cameron Stine in the 300-meter dash. Coley placed 24th (35.79) with DeLorenzo (36.03) in 27th and Stine (38.23) at 40th. John Womack completed the 600-meter with a time of 1:27.04 to finish 12th.

Kylian Boulanger was the winner of the the 5000-meter run. He completed the race at 14:46.59. Chris Ross was third (14:53.51), Stephen Mattis placed fourth (15:06.79) and Elijah Moran crossed the line in eighth (15:16.14).

The Flames put three runners in the top eight of the mile run. William Adkins was second overall with a time of 4:17.49. Conner Campbell was sixth at 4:24.87 and Elliot Anderson was eighth (4:28.74).

Lenny Fabulas and Stine competed in the high jump. Fabulas cleared 2.00 meters for fourth place and Stine was eighth with a clearance of 1.80 meters. Helfrich was ninth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.71 meters. Wyatt Irvine cleared 4.11 meters for 16th.

In the long jump, Hudson Hunt covered 6.42 meters to claim 15th. Fulford was 20th at 6.08 meters and Iosia was 23rd with a leap of 4.76 meters.

Ian Trill's mark of 13.83 meters was good for 11th in the shot put. Carrington Tate was 18th with a toss of 11.26 meters and Casey Lewis was 21st with a mark of 10.79 meters. Tate also finished sixth in the weight throw with a measurement of 16.92 meters and Trill was 13th with a throw of 14.29 meters.

The Flames are scheduled to return to action on January 16 and 17 at the Vanderbilt Invitational.
