Flames With Strong Showings in Two Meets

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Blacksburg, Va. - The Lee University men's track team competed at two different this weekend. One of the meets was the Doc Hale Meet in Blacksburg, Va. That was hosted by Virginia Tech University. The other meet was the Green and Gold Meet hosted by the University of Alabama-Birmingham in Birmingham, Ala.

In Virginia, Ryan Lovelace set his second fastest mile time running 4:05, second only to his PR of 4:03 from last month. He also anchored the NCAA provisional qualifying DMR team this past weekend who came in fourth with a time of 9:48.60. In the 800 meter, Evan Moore came in 12th with a time of 1:53.08.

In Birmingham, Jacob Salters jumped a new personal record of 1.91m in the High Jump. This set a Lee Track & Field Freshman record and is the 6th best mark overall. Nokia Masengu ran a 22.33 in the 200-meter run. He also came in second in the 400-meter run with a time of 48.64.

Owen Pearce was ninth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.38. He also won eh one mile run with a time of 4:11.38. Parker Campbell was third in the 3000-meter with a time of 8:46.70.
Nate Lovelace had a 5.50 meter jump in the long jump. Jacob Atkinson cleared a 3.95 meter mark in the pole vault. Camden Williams threw a shotput at 15.78 meters to come in fifth. He also was tenth in the weight throw with a distance of 16.60 meters. Cooper Giddens reached 11.66 meters in the triple jump.

Cameron Stine competed in Ohio at the Ashland Jud Logan Light Giver Invitational. He set a new personal record points score of 4986 in the Heptathlon. That was the second best in program history only behind the D2 record set by Cale Kassen. He also set personal records in both the Shot Put and the Pole Vault during the competition. Stine is now ranked 23rd nationally in the heptathlon. 

The Flames will compete in the Music Indoor Challenge this weekend in Nashville, Tenn.
