PUEBLO, Colo. – Seven Lee University student-athletes competed on the first day of the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl. The Flames and Lady Flames combined to advance four of six out of the preliminary rounds of their respective events.
Ana Patricia Campos was the lone Lee athlete to appear in an event final on Thursday. Campos completed the 10000-meter run at 36:38.77 to finish 15
th out of 22. Brianna Robles of Adams State was the individual winner with a time of 34:35.98.
Lily Hare and Estella Clemons were the first Lee representatives to take to the track in the preliminaries of the 1500-meter run. Hare finished seventh in Heat 1 and had to wait to see if her time of 4:31.11 would be good enough to advance her to Saturday's final. Clemons earned an automatic qualification with a third-place time of 4:31.13 in Heat 2. Hare's time was the third best among those that didn't finish in the top four of their heat and secured her a spot in the final. Overall, Hare posted the ninth-fastest qualifying time with Clemons right behind in 10
th.
Evan Moore and Jacob Hatcher were both in the first heat of the men's 1500. Moore was eighth (3:55.87) and Hatcher (3:58.16) was 11
th. With the second heat added, Moore finished 17
th with Hatcher at 21
st as neither advanced out of the preliminary round.
The Flames had two more runners looking for a spot in their event final in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Stephen Clark and Luke Gaddis each placed in the top four of Heat 1 to earn automatic qualification to Friday evening's final. Clark stopped the clock at 9:13.62 for fourth overall, while Gaddis placed seventh at 9:13.52.
Liezl Theron begins Friday's schedule in the high jump finals at 6:45 p.m. ET. Clark and Gaddis return to the track for the steeplechase final at 9:30 p.m.
