Flames Hit Four Provisional Marks at Vanderbilt Invitational

Cameron Stine won the heptathlon with a provisional-qualifying point total.
RESULTS

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lee University men's track & field team met four NCAA Division II Provisional marks this weekend at the Vanderbilt Invitational. The indoor meet was held Friday and Saturday at Vanderbilt's Multipurpose Facility.

Pierre Chauveau, Edimo Ninteretse and Tucker Wright recorded new provisional marks in the 3000-meter run, while Cameron Stine met the standard in the pentathlon.

In the 3000, Chauveau completed the race at 8:08.47 for ninth position. Ninteretse (8:10.71) was 12th and Wright (8:11.90) was right behind in 13th. Their times all beat the provisional-qualifying time of 8:12.89. Chauveau's time is 13th in DII so far this season, while Ninteretse is No. 16 and Wright's time is No. 23. Chris Ross was the fourth Lee runner to complete the distance. He finished 24th with a time of 8:18.31.

Stine recorded 4,764 points to win the heptathlon. He needed 4,749 points to meet the provisional mark. Joining Stine in the heptathlon were Silas Fulford, Timothy Doolittle and Isaac Iosia. Fulford collected 4,486 points for fourth place, while Doolittle (3,985) was ninth with Iosia in 10th place (3,881).

Gage Whited placed 19th in the 60-meter dash semifinals with a time of 7.02 seconds. He advanced out of the preliminaries with a 20th-place time of 7.00 seconds. Cooper Giddens was 31st (7.10) in the preliminary round.

Aiden Shaw posted a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.60 seconds. Giddens was seventh (21.91) and Whited finished 10th (22.00). Eli Cobble stopped the clock at 22.34 seconds for 24th.

Shaw and Cobble also competed in the 400-meter dash. Shaw was sixth (48.42) and Cobble finished 12th (48.83).

Five Flames completed the 800-meter run. William Adkins finished in third place with a time of 1:52.07. Parker Campbell (1:55.03) was 27th and Elliot Anderson finished 34th (1:56.20), while Nathan Fontan (1:57.85) was 40th and John Womack (2:01.85) placed 48th.

Stephen Clark led two other Flames in the mile. He completed the race at 4:10.99 for 13th place. Fontan was 19th (4:14.09) with Parker right behind in 20th (4:14.15). Jayden Allred completed the 5000-meter run at 14:59.99 for sixth place.

Lenny Fabulas cleared 2.03 meters to finish second in the high jump. Jacob Salters placed 14th with a clearance of 1.78 meters. In the pole vault, Wyatt Irvine finished 12th with a mark of 4.40 meters and Jacob Atkinson was 14th after clearing 4.25 meters.

Salters added a 19th-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.12 meters. Fabulas covered 5.83 meters for 22nd place.

A 14.62 meter throw by Spencer Myren put him in ninth place in the shot put. Ian Trill placed 10th with a mark of 14.06 meters.

Lee had three athletes finish in the weight throw. Carrington Tate placed eighth with a mark of 16.37 meters. Rodney Ngezimani was 12th with a throw of 15.11 meters and Trill finished 17th after a throw of 13.12 meters.

The Flames return to action in a couple of weeks. Lee will send a few athletes to Boston for the John Thomas Terrier Classic on January 31, while the remaining team members will travel to the Birmingham CrossPlex for the South Alabama Jaguar Invitational on February 1.
