Lady Flames Double Up Emmanuel Behind McGovern's eight goals

CLEVELAND, Tenn.– The Lee University lacrosse team scored four goals in the first three and half minutes and never looked back on the way to a 22-11 win over Emmanuel University on Wednesday evening. Taylor McGovern had eight goals and Lanie Carroll had five as the Lady Flames dominated the game.
 
The Lady Flames scored six goals before Emmanuel got on the board. Kaitlyn Lawrence scored the opening goal followed by Noelle Harrington and Kamille Kremkau. McGovern had two and Caroll had one before Emmanuel got on the board. The Lions scored twice before the end of the first 15 minutes.
 
The scoring picked up for the Lions in the second quarter has they had four goals. However, Lee had five more to lead 11-6 at halftime McGovern added three more goals in the second while Emma Bailey and Lily Tomczik each scored as well.
 
The third period was also high scoring with ten combined goals. Kremkau, Carroll, and McGovern each had two more goals while Emmanuel scored four. Lee outscored the Lions 5-1 in the final period as Carroll had two more goals while McGovern scored her final goal. Abby Davidheiser and Kaitlyn Lawrence each scored as well.
 
Lee outshot Emmanuel 41-31 and had a 22-16 advantage in ground balls. Emmanuel had 18 turnovers to just eight for Lee. However, the Lions had one more draw control than Lee at 17-16.
 
For Emmanuel, Emily Dawson made 13 saves in goal. Lee split time between Savannah Weisman and Sarah Tourville. Weisman made two saves and Tourville made eight saves.
 
The Lady Flames will head on the road for the first time on Sunday, February 15 at Wingate University in North Carolina.
 
Coach Megan's Smith's Thoughts:
 
"In the two days since the last game we really worked on our offense. We made some adjustments to our defense in the second half and that helped shut them down in the fourth quarter."
