Lady Flames Fall on the Road to Wingate

Box Score WINGATE, N.C. – The Wingate University women's lacrosse team handily defeated Lee University 17-3 on Saturday. It was the first win of the year for Wingate while Lee dropped to 1-2. Lee will play at North Greenville University on Tuesday, February 17.
 
Wingate scored eight goals in the first quarter, five in the second, and then two each in the third and the fourth quarter.
 
Abby Davidheiser scored the first goal of the game in the third quarter while Taylor McGovern and Lily Tomczik had a goal each in the fourth. Deidre Jones had five goals in the game to lead Wingate.
 
The Bulldogs had 35 shots in the contest with 32 in goal. Savannah Weisman had 15 saves in the loss. Lee only had eight shots in the match.
 
The Bulldogs had 32 ground balls to just 18 for Lee. Wingate also had the 18-4 advantage in draw controls. Wingate also forced 24 turnovers in the win.
