LAKELAND, Fla. - The Lee University baseball team had four players on the NCBWA All-Region Team. Luke Collier and Cody Turner were on the first team while Evan Bloomer and Landon Frnaklin were on the second team. The University of Tampa led the way with five on the first team and one on the second team. The Gulf South Conference had the most first team players with eight and then had seven on the second team.
Luke Collier is the first team shortstop. He has the second best average in the GSC and is in the top three in slugging. He is tops in the GSC in runs (72), hits (89), RBI (70), and triples (7). As the everyday shortstop he is fielding is over .915 on the season. He has tied the all-time GSC career triples record.
Cody Turner is on the first team as the utility player. He has played first base, outfield, designated hitter, and has pitched. He is in the top seven in the GSC in slugging and ninth in batting average. He is third in the GSC in RBI with 55. He is hitting over .350 with 64 hits. He has over 40 runs scored and 12 home runs. As a pitcher for Lee he has double digit appearance and thrown over 37 innings. He has 31 strikeouts. has three wins, and a 3.82 era.
Evan Bloomer is a second team starting pitcher. He has a 3.61 ERA on the season which is sixth best in the GSC. He has thrown the second most innings this year in the GSC at 99.2. He has the most wins in the GSC with nine. He has 84 strikeouts on the season which is fifth most and thrown the sixth fewest walks in the GSC with 18.
Landon Franklin is the second team second baseman. He is just outside the top ten in the GSC in batting average at .340. He is fourth in runs scored with 52, and fourth in hits with 70. As the everyday second baseman, he has a .950+ fielding percentage.
