INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. The Lee University baseball team has earned an at- large bid for the 2026 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship and will travel to Pensacola, Fla. for the NCAA Division II South Regional. The Flames opened play in the GSC tourney with a 9-4 win over the Statesmen, but after a victory over Mississippi College and a loss to UWF, Lee was eliminated from the GSC action by Delta State, 5-4.
The schedule continues Friday with the loser of UWF and Edward Waters playing the loser of Lee and Delta State at 2 p.m. EST. The winner of West Florida and Edward Waters tests the winner of the Flames and Statesmen at 6 p.m. EST. Saturday's play is slated for 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Said Lee Coach Mark Brew, "We are familiar with the teams in our regional after playing Delta State five times and West Florida four times this season. Every game this time of the year is tough, and execution becomes critical because mistakes are magnified. We need to play clean baseball, get timely hitting, and receive consistent pitching throughout the weekend."
The lower four-team bracket will be played at No.2 seed University of Tampa. The Spartans will entertain No. 7 Trevecca Nazarene and No. 3 Rollins University will go against No. 6 West Alabama.
A total of five GSC teams were selected to the South Regional this year, showing the overall depth of the league.
