Trollinger Runs Third-Fastest 1500 Meter in Program History

John Trollinger posted the third-fastest 1500 meter in Lee track history.

EVENSVILLE, Tenn. – The Lee University men’s track team participated in the Bryan College/Swiftwick Classic and came away with several top performances. The event was held on the newly renovated Rhea County High School track.

Emmanuel Kipchumba and Adam Gullette ran personal best times to place first and second in the 800 meter run. Kipchumba finished at 1:55.6 and Gullette had a time of 1:57.6. Adam Christensen was third at 2:02.2.

John Trollinger posted the third-fastest time in the 1500 meter run in the history of Lee University track. His time of 4:03.6 beat his former personal best by 10 seconds and earned him a third-place finish.

"Trollinger ran a fantastic race,” said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. “Dropping 10 seconds in one race at the 1500 meter distance is very hard to do.”

Terris Elliott was close behind Trollinger in fourth place (4:05.1). Victor Rotich was sixth with a mark of 4:12.4.

Lamar Thompson joined Kipchumba in the 200 meter dash. Thompson finished second (23.1) and Kipchumba was third (23.5). Gullette placed sixth at 24.1 seconds.

Thompson was the lone competitor in the long jump and recorded distance of 5.93 meters.
“I’m very proud of the progress our runners made through the season,” added Morgan. “Everyone on the team ran personal bests all throughout the spring. We are only graduating one athlete and look to be much stronger next year."

Brad Davis and Mike Walker have qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships that will be held May 23-25 in Marion, Ind. Davis is  scheduled to run in the 100 and 200 meter races, while Walker will run in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
