Adrian Martin has been named Lee University's Female Athlete of the Week after becoming a two-time All-American and national champion at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Indoor Track and Field Championships last Friday and Saturday in Cedarville, Ohio.

Martin edged Bethel's Avante Newsome-Gunn by 0.02 seconds to win the 55 meter dash with an NCCAA meet record of 7.14 seconds. The former record of 7.19 was held by Alexa Winik of Cedarville and stood since Feb. 20, 2010.

The sophomore from Marietta, Ga.  added her second national championship and second All-American performance with a mark of 25.51 in the 200 meter dash. Once again, she held off Newsome-Gunn (25.87) for the win.

"Adrian ran two magnificent races," said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. "Her ability to come out of the blocks and accelerate to top speed is remarkable. Her improvements throughout this season have been huge each race."

Martin and the Lady Flames will take few weeks off before opening up the spring season in Atlanta at the Emory Invitational on Mar. 20-21.
