Softball pitcher and first baseman Leigh Beatenbough has been named the Lee University Female Athlete of the Week after helping the Lady Flames to a series victory over rival Shorter University.

Beatenbough started game one of Saturday's twinbill with the Lady Hawks and earned the complete game victory. The freshman allowed just two runs (one earned) on six hits while striking out three.  Beatenbough would also get the nod in the circle for Sunday's series finale and was the tough-luck loser giving up just four hits and three runs in another seven inning performance.

On the season the native of Canon, Ga. has tossed a team-high 86 1/3 innings allowing 74 hits to go along with a 2.19 ERA. Beatenbough is 7-7 on the year with a save.

The versatile freshman also did some damage at the plate in the three-game set with the Lady Hawks. Beatebough finished 4-for-9 with two RBI and a double. On the year she is hitting at a .277 clip but shines under pressure hitting .395 with runners in scoring position.

Beatenbough and the 18-11 Lady Flames will host Trevecca Nazarene on Wednesday at Butler Field for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. Lee jumps back into conference play with a trip to Pensacola to battle West Florida over the weekend.
