Will Barnes was named Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his play from Jan. 28-Feb. 3.

The senior guard tallied 17 points and pulled down six rebounds in an overtime victory at Freed-Hardeman last Tuesday. Barnes followed that performance up with a season-high 31 points in Saturday's thumping of Carver College. The native of Tuscaloosa, Ala. hit 12-of-15 from the field and was a perfect 4-of-4 from behind the arc.

Barnes and the Flames will gear up for two big SSAC contests this week. Thursday Lee welcomes Southern Wesleyan to Walker Arena for an 8 p.m. tip. On Saturday the No. 10-ranked Emmanuel Lions come calling with first place in the East Divsion up for grabs. Tip time is set for 7 p.m. at Walker Arena.
