Summer Lanter has been named Lee University's Female Athlete of the Week after leading the Lady Flames to a 5-0 victory over Shorter on Friday evening to wrap up the regular season portion of the schedule.

Lanter, a red-shirt sophomore from Soddy Daisy, Tenn., scored her team-leading eight and ninth goals of the season to help the Lady Flames clinch the No. 2 seed and a first round bye in the Gulf South Conference Tournament.

Lanter scored her first goal in the 54th minute to extend the Lee advantage over the Lady Hawks to 4-0. She was taken down by the keeper on the play but got just enough on the shot to find the back of the net.

The sophomore finished things out in 80th minute as she curled a shot over the outstretched arms of the goalie to complete the 5-0 win.

Lanter and the Lady Flames will get set to play in their first postseason as official members of NCAA D2. Lee will play West Florida in the GSC semifinals on Friday at 6 p.m. The event is being stage in Florence and hosted by the top-seed, North Alabama.
