Freshman Josiah Brooks has been named Lee University's Male Athlete of the Week following his performance this past weekend at the UCS Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Brooks posted the second-fastest time in the 200 meter at the UCS Invitational. His time of 22.01 was bettered only by Claflin University's Brandon Valentine-Parris (21.74). His converted time of 21.63 is tied for the 17th-fastest time this season in DII.

"Josiah ran a great race in the 200 meter," said  head coach Caleb Morgan. "He got out of the blocks a little slow due to a pulled hamstring from three weeks ago, but stilled managed to hit the NCAA provisional time. He should go quicker next week."

Brooks also posted a time of 50.25 seconds in the 400 meter. He tied with Alexander Tallman (unattached) for the second-best time in the event. Bigal Harrison of Virginia State has the fastest time at 49.59.

The Flames will take a small group to the 2016 George Mason Last Chance Meet in Fairfax, Va., on Feb. 28 in hunt of a few more provisional qualifiers in the final regular season indoor meet.
