Sophomore runner Christian Noble has been named the Lee University Male Athlete of the Week after winning the GSC Individual Championship and leading the Lee men's cross country team to a third straight team title on Saturday from Danville, Ala.

The sophomore covered the 8K distance at the Jesse Owens Course in 24:31.26 to finish 12 seconds ahead of his closest competitor. 

"Christian ran a phenomenal race," said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. "He kind of ran with the field through two, two and a half miles and then really took off over the second half of the race."

The No. 16 Flames placed six runners in the top 20 on their way to posting 41 points, finishing 29 points clear of second place Alabama Huntsville.

Noble and the Flames will now set their sights on repeating as South Region Champions on Nov. 4 in Lakeland, Fla.
