Junior reliever Jose Samayoa has been named Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Pitcher of the Week, for his outstanding work in three of the Flames’ four wins this past week. All totaled, Samayoa went 1-0 with a pair of saves.
Samayoa worked five innings in Tuesday’s 10-5 win over No. 6 Tennessee Wesleyan, the second victory in one week for the Lee club over their old rival. In two appearances over the weekend, the Hermosillo, Mexico native worked a single inning each time, allowing no runs or hits, striking out two and walking one. Samayoa is now 7-0 on the season with a 2.60 earned run average in 62 1/3 innings.
