Men's basketball guard Michael McGuirk has been named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday.

McGuirk was also named GSC Freshman of the Week back on Dec. 7.

The White Plains, Ala. native scored 12 points, hit a pair of 3s and grabbed four rebounds in Lee's 82-74 loss at No. 20 West Florida on Thursday.

On Saturday McGuirk set a career-high with 23 points and connected on 4 of 7 from the behind the arc in an 81-70 loss at No. 12 Valdosta State. McGuirk was 7 of 14 from the field and grabbed five rebounds as he provided a spark for the Flames coming off the bench.  

McGuirk and the Flames will look to get back in the win column this week as they currently hold the eighth and final spot in the GSC Tournament with five games remaining. Lee hosts Union on Thursday at 8 p.m. and Christian Brothers on Saturday at 4 p.m.
