Junior first baseman Alan Smith has been named the Lee University Male Athlete of the Week after he helped lead the Flames to a 3-1 record over Lindenwood this past weekend to open the 2019 season.

Smith wasted little time making an impact with the Flames at the plate as he hit .455 (5 for 11) with two doubles, one home run and three RBI over the four-game series. Smith is a junior transfer from Shelton State Community College and is from Fort Payne, Ala.

Smith and the Flames will travel to Saint Leo, Fla. to take on the Lions in a three-game series beginning Friday at 6 p.m. Lee opens up the home portion of the regular season on Feb. 16 as they host GSC rival Valdosta State for a three-game weekend series.
