BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Lee University's Lisa Kirr was named as this week's Gulf South Conference Women's Tennis Freshman of the Week. It is the third time this season a Lady Flame earned the recognition. Micaela Belen Maiz had earned the honor the past two weeks.
Kirr was 2-0 last week in singles competition. The Troisdorf, Germany, native scored one of Lee's two points against No. 8 West Florida with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles over Valeria Mantilla. She added a 6-4, 6-2 win against Martin Methodist's Sina Albersmeier at No. 3 singles two days later.
In doubles action, Kirr teamed with Lauren Trammell to defeat Darby Tompkins and Jennifer Wilson 6-0 at No. 3 doubles in the Lady Flames' win over Martin Methodist.
The Lady Flames are at Tusculum this afternoon before traveling to Carrollton, Ga., to face West Georgia in a GSC contest on Friday.
