MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Lee University men's track & field shot putter Gari Garmendia earned GSC Field Performer of the Week the league office announced on Wednesday.

Garmendia threw the shot put 15.87 meters this weekend, a new Lee record. He is currently ranked first in the GSC by nearly a meter in the event. Garmendia added a 12th-place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 40.89 meters.

The 13th-ranked Flames get back to action on Saturday with a trip to Huntsville, Ala., for the Gulf South/Peach Belt Challenge.
