Lee University runner Emmanuel Kipchumba has been named National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Men's Indoor Track Student-Athlete of the Week.

Kipchumba earned eight of the team's 12 points with a second place finish at the Emory Crossplex Invitational on Sunday. Lee would finish tied for 12th with Rhodes College in a field consisting of predominantly NCAA Division II and III programs.

Kipchumba turned a personal best time of 1:55.12 to take second in the men's 800 meter run. He finished just behind Furman University's William Ivey (1:54.97).

In addition to the second place finish, the sophomore lowered his already NCCAA National-qualifying time by two seconds. He posted a time of 1:57.11 one week ago at the Niswonger Invitational.

Kipchumba's new mark of 1:55.12, even after being adjusted to 1:56.77 due to track size, is the fastest time recorded in the NCCAA so far this season. Hansen Martin of Indiana Wesleyan University is just behind at 1:56.88.

The Flames will use the Samford Invitational on the weekend of February 7-8 as a final tune up before the NCCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 21-22.
