Elliott, Eagleson Place In Top Five At Samford Open

Flames Travel To Winston-Salem On Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Lee University track & field team recorded two top-five finishes at the Samford Open Indoor meet held at the Birmingham Crossplex. The Flames will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., to participate in the UCS Invitational on Feb. 20.

Terris Elliott placed fifth in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:54.64 and Seth Eagleson was fifth in the 3000 meter run. Eagleson crossed the finish line at 8:34.38.

Joining Elliott in the 800 meter run were Brandon Raleigh and Harold Smith. Raleigh was 30th (2:01.64) and Smith finished 35th (2:02.60). In the 3000 meter run, Camden Perez stopped the clock at 8:49.57 (14th) and Matt Jenkins finished 31st (9:11.34).

Javon Jones, Hunter Goforth and Stephen Cannon battled in the 60 meter dash. Jones was 29th (7.22), Goforth 31st (7.24) and Cannon placed 33rd (7.25).

Justin Brooks took part in three separate events. Brooks placed 24th (49.88) in the 400 meter dash, 28th (6.14 meters) in the long jump and 22nd (22.21) in the 200 meter dash. Josiah Brooks finished the 200 meter dash in 23.04 (49th). Cannon was 55th with a mark of 23.26 seconds.

The Flames had three athletes in the mile run. Alex Carter finished 29th (4:35.09). Garret Flores was 35th (4:41.22) and Davis Moore had a time of 4:47.66 (44th).

Colson Hagan recorded a time of 15:49.75 (11th) in the 5000 meter run. Christian Smith was 15th in the shot put with a throw of 12.31 meters.
