Men's Distance Medley Relay Wins NCAA DII National Championship

Flames Finish 18th At NCAA DII Indoor Championships

PITTSBURG, Kan. –Lee University men's Distance Medley Relay team earned a first-place finish as the Flames finished 18th at the 2022 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships. The two-day event was hosted by Pittsburg State University at the Robert W. Plaster Center. The Flames finished with 13 points.

The foursome of Hayden Judge, Jeremiah McCain, Titus Lagat and Christian Noble won the Distance Medley Relay crown in a championships record of 9:34.51 for the fastest time ever recorded in NCAA DII history, regardless of track size. Lee was one of five teams to go under the previous meet record of 9:40.15 set by Western Oregon in 2017. Simon Fraser earned runner-up honors in 9:36.05, which is the second-fastest all-conditions mark behind Lee (Tenn.), followed by third-place Adams State (9:37.07), fourth-place American International (9:39.26) and fifth-place Pittsburg State (9:39.61). Judge, McCain, Lagat and Noble also claimed spots on the NCAA DII All-American First Team.

In Friday night's 1 Mile Run preliminaries, Noble posted the top time at 4:04.44. He crossed the finish line in first place with a time of 4:08.25 in Saturday's event final but was disqualified reportedly for pushing.

Noble and Carson Bix both competed in the 3000-Meter Run. Noble collected three team points and earned NCAA All-American First Team honors with a sixth-place finish (8:01.23). Bix was 18th with a clock stoppage of 8:24.91. Bix added a 16th-place finish in the 5000-Meter Run. He completed the race in 14:18.88.

McCain finished 12th in the 400-Meter Run. He crossed the finish line at 48.01 seconds to claim the final spot on the NCAA Division II Second Team for the event.

Lagat posted a time of 1:52.27 in the 800-Meter Run preliminaries. His time was 15th overall and 0.78 seconds behind the final qualifying time for the event final.
