Noble Breaks NCAA DII Outdoor 1500-Meter Record At Oregon Relays

RESULTS

EUGENE, Oregon – Lee University's Christian Noble set the NCAA Division II Outdoor 1500-Meter Run record Friday evening at the Oregon Relays. Noble completed the day with two top-five finishes.

Noble completed the 1500-Meter Run Invite event with a time of 3:36.00 and held off Reed Brown of Oregon by 0.44 seconds to claim first place. In third was Adam Spencer of Wisconsin.

The time posted by Noble set three new records. It beat the old meet record of 3:37.83 set in 2010 by Andrew Wheating. Noble also broke the Lee record (3:39.42) he set on April 8 at the Flames Invitational in pursuit of the DII record of 3:37.35. Noble's time surpassed the DII mark set by Western Oregon's David Ribich on April 20, 2018.

Noble's performance at the 1500 distance not only set three records, it landed him at No. 11 in collegiate history and the fourth-best performance in the event in the entire world in 2022. The mark qualified Noble for the U.S. Championships in June, a first for a Lee track & field athlete.

An hour later Noble was competing in the 5000-Meter Run McChesney event. He crossed the finish line at 13:35.61 to finish fifth. Olin Hacker of Wisconsin was first with a time of 13:19.34. Oregon's Aaron Bienenfeld was third (13:28.13) and Gonzaga's James Mwaura finished fourth at 13:30.02. All of the top five finishers beat the meet record of 13:36.25.
