Lady Flames Record Eight Provisional Performances At Georgia Tech Invitational

Rubin Improves Lee Record In Hammer Throw

RESULTS

ATLANTA– The Lee University women's track & field team recorded a new Lee record and had eight provisional performances at the Georgia Tech Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Rubin improved her record in the hammer throw and joined Kristen Blevins, Celine Ritter, Aria Hawkins, Lily Hare and both relay teams in meeting provisional marks in their events.

Rubin launched the hammer 53.54 meters to finish ninth. The mark improves upon the 52.06-meter throw she had recorded a couple weeks ago at the Flames Invitational. Rubin's provisional-qualifying performance moved her up to No. 23 among NCAA Division II athletes.

Blevins met the provisional mark and just missed the Lee record in the 100-meter dash. She finished ninth with a time of 11.64 to post the second-fastest time in Lee history and the 22nd-fastest time in DII this season. Adrian Martin holds the top spot with a time of 11.61 in the preliminary round of the 2017 Gulf South Conference Championships.

Ritter met provisional standards in both the 800 and 1500-meter runs. She placed fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:10.12 and was fourth in the 1500 (4:18.79). Ritter is now No. 18 in the 800 and holds the No. 2 time in the 1500. Hawkins and Hare joined Ritter with provisional times in the 1500. Hawkins posted a 10th-place finish of 4:29.16 to land her at No. 27 on the performance list, while Hare's 13th-place finish of 4:31.69 put her at No. 47.

The 4x100 relay team of Jydia Faucette, Carissa Hall, Eve Hine and Blevins finished sixth with a provisional time of 46.53 seconds. The time is No. 32 on the performance list. The foursome also finished second (3:47.42) in the 4x400 relay. They met the provisional time and now hold the 23rd-best time in the event this season. Blevins, Hine and Hall are also at No. 15 (3:45.36) in the event with Kaia Martz as the fourth member of the qualifying team.

Faucette and Jaila Whitaker joined Blevins in the 100. Faucette finished 23rd with a time of 12.05 and Whitaker was 45th (12.42). Blevins also added an 11th-place finish in the 200 after crossing the finish line at 24.75. Whitaker placed 47th (26.00) and Sydney White was 51st (26.16).

Hine and Hall finished seventh and 13th, respectively, in the 400. Hine recorded a time of 55.70 and Hall stopped the clock at 56.40.

The Lady Flames had six runners in the 800. Ritter was fourth, while Hare placed 13th (2:12.56) and Hawkins finished 19th (2:14.17). Liza Kellerman (2:18.41) was 35th, Megan Adams (2:22.09) was 47th and Ashlyn Iliff finished at 2:26.15 (60th). Kellerman added a 25th-place finish in the 1500 (4:36.79) and Adams was 27th (4:37.73), while Olivia McLain placed 68th (4:54.81).

Katie Krueger, Julia Halterman and McLain were the top three of six Lady Flames in the 5000-meter run. Krueger was 20th (17:46.86), Halterman placed 21st (17:47.61) and McLain was 22nd (17:50.24). Phoebe Moran completed the circuit in 18:34.22 (52nd). Danielle Horter finished 70th (19:08.70) and Elizabeth Heckman was 84th (19:54.78).

In the hurdle events, White was 35th (16.97) at the 100-meter distance and Faucette was 15th (1:03.74) in the 400 hurdles. Iliff and Elizabeth Beckham finished in the top nine of the 3000-meter steeplechase. Iliff was fifth (11:16.72) and Beckham finished ninth (11:27.68).

Brynn Depinet cleared 3.41 meters to finish 10th in the pole vault. Hall covered 5.78 meters to placed sixth in the long jump, while Faucette was 19th with a jump of 5.35 meters.

Rubin added an 11th-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 13.05 meters and was joined by Symphony Buxton in the hammer throw. Buxton posted a throw of 38.63 meters to finish 23rd.

The Lady Flames return to action the weekend of May 4-6 in the Gulf South Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The three-day event will be held at the Ray Conn Sports Complex.
