Lady Flames Meet Three Provisional Marks, Set One Lee Record At Flames Invitational

RESULTS

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Lee University women's track & field team met three provisional marks and set one Lee record on their way to scoring the most points at the Flames Invitational presented by Jones Properties this weekend at the Ray Conn Sports Complex.

The Lady Flames accumulated 142 points to outscore second-place Belmont University (126) by 16 points to claim top team honors. Wingate University (62) was third and Cedarville University was fourth with 54 points.

Celine Ritter led the way with provisional performances in the 800-meter run and the 5000-meter run. She won the 800 with a time of 2:12.15. That mark met the provisional mark of 2:12.23 and is currently the 23rd-best time posted in NCAA Division II this season. Ritter finished second in the 5000 with a time of 16:25.65, to beat the provisional standard by 41.45 seconds. Her time is also the fifth-fastest in DII.

Carissa Hall covered 12.16 meters in the triple jump to finish first and meet the provisional standard of 11.96 meters. Hall is currently No. 13 among DII athletes in the event.

Deborah Rubin set a Lee record on her way to finishing second in the hammer throw. Her throw of 52.06 meters beat her previous record of 48.71 meters from the 2022 Gulf South Conference Championships.

Joining Rubin in the hammer were Symphony Buxton, Nitia Howard and Samara Brinks. Buxton finished 12th with a throw of 40.22 meters. Howard was 14th at 39.08 meters and Brinks placed 22nd with a 31.05-meter throw.

Jaila Whitaker finished third in the 100-meter dash after crossing the finish line at 12.31 seconds. Kristen Blevins was the first of five Lady Flames in the 200-meter dash. Blevins was first overall at 24.52 and Eve Hine was right behind in second place at 24.70. Kaia Martz (25.48) was 12th, Whitaker finished 18th (25.74) and Sydney White was 25th (26.07).

Hine then finished first in the 400 with a time of 56.29 seconds. Hall was second (56.38) and Martz (57.46) third. Jydia Faucette claimed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.17.

Joining Ritter in the 800 were Lily Hare, Aria Hawkins, Megan Adams, Liza Kellerman and White. Hare was sixth overall with a time of 2:14.71. Hawkins (2:16.33) was 10th, Adams (2:17.05) finished 11th and Kellerman was 12th (2:17.81). White stopped the clock at 2:32.31 for 49th.

Kellerman was the first Lady Flame across the finish line of the 1500. She was third overall with a time of 4:34.80. Hare was close behind in fourth (4:34.90), while Hawkins was fifth (4:34.93). Adams (4:40.72) finished 11th, Ashlyn Iliff was 40th (4:55.57) and Elizabeth Beckham (5:04.36) placed 52nd.

Iliff and Beckham were Lee's representatives in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Iliff's time of 11:36.62 put her in 10th, while Beckham placed 15th with a time of 11:50.71.

Julia Halterman and Phoebe Moran joined Ritter in the 5000. Halterman crossed the finish line at 17:27.39 for 16th and Moran was 67th (18:57.66). Olivia McLain finished the 10000-meter run in 36:34.57 for 12th place. Katie Krueger was 15th (36:58.53) and Danielle Horter (41:05.52) came in 45th.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Faucette, Hall, Hine and Blevins finished first with a combined time of 47.31 seconds.

Brynn Depinet cleared 3.35 meters to finish first in the pole vault. Hall added a second-place finish with a 5.76-meter leap in the long jump. Faucette was fifth with a jump of 5.32 meters. White placed 12th in the javelin with a throw of 26.18 meters.

In the shot put, Buxton finished seventh with a throw of 11.40 meters. Howard's throw of 9.50 meters put her in 16th place. Buxton added another seventh-place finish with a 37.66-meter throw in the discus. Howard placed 23rd with a mark of 29.19 meters.
