RESULTS
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lee University women's track & field team met six NCAA Division II Provisional marks this weekend at the Vanderbilt Invitational. The indoor meet was held Friday and Saturday at Vanderbilt's Multipurpose Facility.
Aria Hawkins and Liz Lannom each recorded new provisional marks. Hawkins met the standard in the mile and 800-meter run, while Lannom did the same in the pentathlon and 60-meter hurdles. Maddox Mayfield met the provisional in the 400-meter and Brynn Depinet exceeded the height needed in the pole vault.
In the mile, Hawkins finished fifth with a time of 4:47.35, which beat the provisional mark of 4:54.48. She was eighth in the 800 at 2:11.90 with 2:13.30 the time to beat. Hawkins' mile time is fifth among DII runners this season and the 800 time is eighth best.
Lannom scored 3,611 points to place third in the pentathlon. Her point total was 301 more than needed to meet the provisional mark. During the pentathlon competition her time of 8.65 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles was better than the standard of 8.79 seconds. Her performance in the pentathlon put her at No. 8 for the season and Lannom is 19
th in the 60 hurdles.
Mayfield placed 10
th in the 400 after stopping the clock at 56.00 seconds. Her time beat the provisional time of 56.50 and is No. 15 in DII.
Depinet cleared 3.85 meters to finish fourth in the pole vault invite and go over the provisional height of 3.72 meters. Her mark in the pole vault is the 10
th-best of the season to date.
Mayfield was one of three Lady Flames to run the 60-meter hurdles. In the preliminaries, Mayfield was 29
th at 7.89 seconds. Jydia Faucette finished 47
th (8.18) and Addison Bleisath (8.26) was 49
th.
Mayfield, Faucette and Bleisath also competed in the 200-meter dash. Mayfield's time of 25.15 seconds was good for 16
th, while Faucette (26.64) was 38
th and Bleisath finished 44
th (27.21).
Joining Mayfield in the 400 were Bleisath and Lily Brown. Bleisath stopped the clock at 1:01.05 for 41
st and Brown was 46
th (1:01.94). Brown also finished 26
th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.38 seconds.
While Hawkins was eighth in the 800, Kaylen Owen finished 15
th (2:14.76) and Katie Beam was 17
th (2:15.31). Abi Moore completed the race at 2:20.80 for 27
th place.
Moore, Beam and Lucy Guthrie ran the mile with Hawkins. Moore was 28
th with a time of 5:02.66. Beam finished 33
rd (5:04.63) and Guthrie placed 41
st (5:10.37).
Ava Sparks, Capucine Cureau and Kaylee Estridge took on the 3000-meter run. Sparks (10:08.72) and Cureau (10:12.77) finished 36
th and 38
th, respectively. Estridge's time of 10:55.08 put her in 54
th.
Lee put two runners in the top 10 of the 5000-meter run. Sadie Wielfaert was fifth (18:14.37) with Sawyer Simmons in ninth (18:50.65).
Two Lady Flames were part of the pole vault competition. Addison Kohlmeier recorded a clearance of 3.70 meters to place sixth and Ayla Misavage cleared 3.40 meters for 11
th.
Faucette placed 14
th in the long jump with a mark of 5.29 meters. Aubrey Anderson covered 11.29 meters for 17
th place in the triple jump.
Samara Brinks and Gracie Waite competed in the weight throw. Brinks finished fifth with a throw of 16.85 meters and Waite was ninth with a mark of 14.98 meters. Waite also finished seventh with a mark of 12.69 meters in the shot put.
Joining Lannom in the pentathlon were Kaylen Owen, Amelia Wedemeyer and Brooke Jones. Owen tallied 2,836 points for 14
th place. Wedemeyer was 18
th and Jones 19
th with 2,615 and 2,611 points, respectively.
The Lady Flames return to action in a couple of weeks. Lee will send a few athletes to Boston for the John Thomas Terrier Classic on January 30, while the remaining team members will travel to the Birmingham CrossPlex for the South Alabama Jaguar Invitational on February 1.
