Lady Flames Hit Six New Provisionals In Three Meets Over Weekend

Maddox Mayfield met provisional marks in the 400 and the distance medley relay this weekend.

BOSTON/CAMBRIDGE, Mass./BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Lee University women's track & field team posted six new NCAA Division II Provisional Qualifying marks this weekend in three different meets. The Lady Flames had a small group travel to the Northeast to compete at Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Classic and at the Harvard Invitational, while the rest of the team were at the University of South Alabama Jaguar Invitational which was held at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

On Friday at the Terrier Classic, the Lady Flames met two new high marks in the 400-meter dash and mile run. Maddox Mayfield placed ninth with a time of 55.61 in the 400 to beat the provisional mark of 56.50. Her time is 19th among all DII competitors this season.

Aria Hawkins stopped the clock at 4:45.34 to place 17th in the mile. The time needed was 4:54.34. Hawkins' performance was the sixth best at this point in the season. Hawkins also placed 41st in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:26.13.

Three Lady Flames participated in the 800-meter run. Katie Beam was 34th at 2:14.91. Kaylen Owen (2:15.46) placed 38th and Abi Moore (2:21.71) finished 94th.

Moore continued her weekend on Saturday at Harvard. She placed eighth in the mile with a time of 5:10.14. The foursome of Beam, Mayfield, Owen and Hawkins finished second with a provisional beating time of 11:47.10 in the distance medley relay. Their time beat the standard of 11:58.03.

Three more provisionals fell on Sunday in Birmingham at the USA Jaguar Invitational with Liz Lannom responsible for two events and Brynn Depinet the third.

Lannom placed eighth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 16.34 seconds. Lannom advanced out of the preliminaries with a provisional-qualifying time of 8.58 seconds to beat the standard of 8.79 seconds. Her time puts her at No. 15.

Lily Brown and Amelia Wedemeyer joined Lannom in the 60 hurdles. Brown finished 10th in the preliminaries after crossing the finish line at 9.31 seconds and Wedemeyer was 17th (9.75).

Lannom also placed second in the 200-meter dash. She stopped the clock at 24.54 to beat the provisional time of 24.63. Her time is ranked No. 26 in the nation.

Jydia Faucette, Addison Bleisath and Annika Barrett were also in the 200 field. Faucette placed 19th (26.08), Bleisath was 24th (26.47) and Barrett finished 25th (26.69).

Depinet won the pole vault after a successful clearance of 3.95 meters. Her mark beat the standard of 3.72 meters and is the 10th-best performance this season. Addison Kohlmeier finished fifth with a height of 3.65 meters and Ayla Misavage was eighth at 3.50 meters.

Faucette also claimed 16th in the 60-meter preliminary with a time of 8.03 seconds. Marisa Hennix was 23rd at 8.34 seconds.

Barrett and Bleisath were Lee's representatives in the 400-meter dash. Barrett (59.27) was 11th and Bleisath finished 14th (59.97).

Four Lady Flames competed in the 800-meter run. Ava Sparks crossed the line in sixth (2:21.10) and Capucine Cureau was eighth (2:22.16). Sadie Wielfaert (2:25.07) finished 12th with Sawyer Simmons (2:30.99) in 19th.

Sparks was fifth in the mile at 5:06.30 with Cureau (5:09.12) in eighth. Wielfaert placed 18th (5:21.00) and Simmons was right behind in 19th (5:22.90).

Lannom cleared 1.64 meters to earn fifth place in the high jump. Aubrey Anderson placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 5.36 meters. Hennix was 14th at 4.94 meters and Browns' leap of 4.78 meters was good for 16th. Wedermeyer covered 4.75 meters for 18th.

In the triple jump, Anderson was second with a mark of 11.55 meters. Faucette covered 10.58 meters for sixth and Brooke Jones' measurement of 10.29 meters put her in 10th.

Samara Brinks placed third in the weight throw with a measurement of 16.97 meters. Gracie Waite was eighth with a throw of 15.60 meters. Waite also placed third in the shot put with a mark of 13.56 meters.

The Lady Flames travel to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, next weekend at JDL Fast Track. The Camel City Sprints are on Friday with the Camel City Distance on Saturday.
