DAY ONE RECAP
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Following the second of three days of competition at the 2026 GSC Outdoor Track & Field Championships the Lee University Flames hold a slim1.5 point lead over their nearest opponent. Ten of the 21 events have been completed with the final 11 to be decided on Friday at the University of Montevallo Track & Field Stadium.
The Flames entered Thursday with 67 points and added 46 more to end the day with 113 points. Alabama Huntsville tallied 66.5 points to cut into Lee's lead. The Chargers moved into second place with 111.5 points. Montevallo is third at 85.5 points and Mississippi College is fourth at 80 points.
Silas Fulford and Timothy Doolittle completed the second half of the decathlon. Fulford finished fourth with 5,676 points and Doolittle was sixth with 4,951 points.
Lenny Fabulas cleared 1.98 meters to finish third in the high jump. Jacob Salters was 10
th with a successful jump of 1.90 meters. The duo also competed in the triple jump where Salters covered 13.76 meters to place fourth, while Fabulas was fifth with a mark of 13.73 meters.
Rodney Ngezimani placed second in the discus with a throw of 49.87 meters.
Pierre Chauveau completed the second day with a championship in the 5000-meter run. He crossed the finish line at 14:33.13 to win by almost two seconds. Edimo Ninteretse placed sixth (14:53.41) and Nathan Fontan was seventh (14:54.59). Chris Ross just missed scoring with a ninth place finish (14:57.06) and Tucker Wright was 13
th (15:09.55).
Two Lee runners advanced to the final of the 100-meter dash. Cooper Giddens posted the third-fastest prelims time of 10.85 seconds and Gage Whited was fifth with a time of 10.88 seconds. Shaw Helfrich was 17
th (11.32).
Isaac Iosia advanced to Friday's final of the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.97 seconds. Helfrich claimed the final spot in the final with a qualifying time of 15.12 seconds. Silas Fulford placed 13
th at 15.68 seconds.
The men begin the final day of field events with the javelin and shot put finals. On the track, there will be nine events to be contested beginning with the 4x100-meter relay. The final eight events are the 1500-meter run, 110-meter hurdles, 400-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 800-meter run, 400-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay.
