Flames Baseball Named 2025-26 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award Winners

GREENSBORO, N.C. - For the seventh straight year the Lee University baseball team has received The American Baseball Coaches Association 2025-26 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack. The award recognizes high school and college programs nationwide. The honors go to ABCA member programs that posted a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the 2025-26 academic year. Lee was joined by West Florida and UAH as the only GSC teams on the ABCA Academic Award listings.

Following the conclusion of the spring semester, coaches were invited to nominate their teams for the award before the July 17 deadline. To qualify, a program was required to meet the following criteria:
  • Be a high school or college baseball program
  • Have a head coach who is a current ABCA member
  • Post a minimum cumulative team GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the 2025-26 academic year
Lee's Luke Collier earned second-team ABCA Academic All-American accolades with his highlights on and off the field. The gifted shortstop led the Flames in almost all the statistical categories and finished with a 3.9 GPA. Evan Bloomer was among the top hurlers in the GSC and recorded a 3.97 GPA. Cody Turner had a 3.79 GPA, Isaiah French a 3.74 and Landon Franklin a 3.57 GPA. All were leaders on a team that placed second in the South Region Tournament.

Said Lee coach Mark Brew, "I'm extremely proud of how our guys have consistently put forth the effort in the classroom. Receiving this award for seventh consecutive years takes a lot of intentional effort on everyone's part. I would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Jason Robinson and his commitment to our team as our faculty mentor."

The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/ATEC Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award. (Coach Brew is a past winner of the Dave Keilitz Ethics Award.)
